Projects

We work in a number of different communities and fund a variety of projects. On each project we partner with a local NGO or faith-based group to ensure effective implementation and community participation.

Dairy Goat Project

_If you give women equal rights as persons in a society, and assist them with the basic tools for sustainable agriculture, they take care of the well-being not only of their children, but of the community. For this reason HUOOP™ has taken part in an initiative to train Kenyan women in proper  goat milk production. We do this by teaching good animal husbandry practices and supplying purebred bucks and does to improve the breeding quality and milk supply of the hardy local goats...

Greenhouse Project

A greenhouse allows the farmer to control the supply of water both during the dry seasons and during 
torrential rains, which can wash away seeds or crops. A greenhouse also reduces the number of diseases 
and pests that can cut output. The farmer is thus able to grow nutritious vegetables (green peppers, 
kale, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, etc.) year-round..

Education Project

In most of Africa, secondary education is not paid for by the state. Currently fewer than 25% of secondary school age children in sub-Saharan Africa attend school; the vast majority of these students are boys. Girls are the first children pulled out of school to work on the farm, care for the sick and elderly or be the head of a family of orphaned children. We have thus chosen to support the education of girls in local community secondary schools, as this gives primary school girls the opportunity to see and be inspired by older sisters and friends who attend secondary school...

Sanitary Pads Project

A major issue holding older girls back from achieving their full potential at school is attendance during their menstrual period. As of January 2012, HUOOP™ has begun funding a three-year program involving a total of ten primary and secondary schools, which now supplies more than 1000 girls with sanitary pads...
